The operator (confidential) operates a Coal Seam Gas (CSG) field in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Based on forecast production rates, the operator identified a requirement to expand an existing Central Processing Plant to achieve an increased export capacity of 30 terajoules / day (TJ/day).
Promech’s client were engaged to complete the first expansion stage which involved the installation of a new 10 TJ/day GE reciprocating compressor with Waukesha gas engine and a new 30TJ/day tri-ethylene glycol (TEG) dehydration package. In addition, a new inlet manifold, slug catcher and coalescing filter, as well as new flare and fuel gas packages were installed. Existing site utilities were also upgraded as part of the project.
Promech were engaged as part of our client’s team to provide the SMP engineering for the front-end engineering design and detailed design phases of the project and were responsible for the SMP design for all areas of the project from inlet gas gathering connections through to export pipeline modifications.
In addition to the SMP engineering, Promech were heavily involved in the specification, selection and technical review for all of the main vendor equipment packages for the project.
Promech’s key project achievements included:
- Completed detailed structural and foundation design for all new equipment including interfacing with driven steel piles
- Coordinated with compressor vendor and dynamic design consultants to successfully minimise risk of equipment damage due to vibration
- Completed detailed design including pipe stress analysis for all new aboveground facility piping and interfaces to existing piping
- Completed detailed design for DN1200 HDPE slug catcher and all new underground piping
